Seeding Play – for BOTH upper and lower tiers

Each player will play three matches for seeding purposes
These matches will be pre-determined
The matches will be played as a “best of three” – 1st player to win 2 games, wins the set/match
Matches will not be “win by two” so there will be a maximum of 3 games played per match
We will keep record, we will use point differential as a tie breaker – for example if Player A beats Player B game -15, game-30 this will be converted to 4-1, 4-2 and his point differential will be 8-3 or +5
In the event the records are still tied after tiebreakers, we will use a strength of schedule for victories as the tie breaker (Player A beat the 4th seed and the 8th seed and Player B beat the 5th seed and 6th seed, Player A “strength” will be 12 and Player Bs “strength” will be 11 and player B will be the higher seed.

Tournament Play

The top 4 seeds advance to round two with a bye
The highest remaining seed will play the lowest remaining seed (5-12) and so on (6-11, 7-10, etc) for Round 1 of the Single Elimination Tournament – There will NOT be re-seeding after Round 1 and Round 2 will play out according to the bracket
The first round of this tournament will be “best of five” – 1st player to win 3 games wins the set/match (there is no “win by two”) and advances, the 2nd round will be “best of seven” and 1st to 4 games wins
The semi-finals will be played until 5 (there will be no “win by two”) or a single “best of nine” set
For the finals, there will be a single until 6 with a “win by two” until 7 in place – the 7th game will be a regular game. However, if the players agree, they can choose a smaller set size (4 or 5) and waive the “win by two” rule as well.
The losers in the semi-finals games will play each other in a “Bronze Medal” gamei
The winner in each tier will receive a trophy, a $200 gift card to the Tennis Express. Runners up in both tiers will receive a $150 voucher to Tennis Express, and the 3rd place finisher will receive a $100 voucher to Tennis Express.

Rules

We will be playing with standard USTA Singles rules. Each player is responsible for their own side of the court – if a player is not sure if a ball is in or out on their side of the court, the ball is considered in.
The players can come to an agreement on any shot other than to “do the point again”
